Facebook Brand Page Essential Tips (part 1)

With Facebook being home to almost 2 Billion users (yes that’s Billion with a B), setting up a Facebook brand page for your brand is not only a good idea, it’s a necessity.

Sounds easy right? Just post a photo, write a couple of posts, and sit back and relax while the customers come rushing in.

Wrong, it aint that easy.

Unless you have a comprehensive strategy to get your Facebook page noticed, liked, shared and engaged with, the chances you’ll actually generate any leads with it are somewhere between slim and none.

Like anything else, theres a right way and a wrong way to set up a page. So allow me to offer a few tips to help you get it right, and create an engaging page that utilizes all the things Facebook has to offer marketers to generate leads.

1. Build an actual Facebook Brand Page for your Brand.

I find that many noob marketers and intrepreneurs will create a standard personal profile for their brand or business. This is a big mistake, if you simply use a profile instead of an actual business page you’ll miss out on all the free marketing tools that come with a Facebook Brand Page, i.e. analytics, content creation tools, paid promotional opportunities, etc. And whats worse, if your customers want to engage with your profile page, they will have to send you a friend request. Talk about making it harder for a customer to do business with you.

2. Use a good quality recognizable profile photo.

Being recognizable is important to getting found and Liked, especially in Facebook Search, so you’re definitely going to want an easily recognizable photo or logo for your page.  I recommend a nice headshot  if you’re branding yourself, or a nice HiDef logo otherwise.

Remember, any time you post this is the picture that’s going to show up next to your post in people’s feeds, and in search results, so make it a good pic.

When choosing a photo, keep in mind that Facebook sometimes changes their picture dimensions, which you can find at any given time here. At the time of this publication, Page profile pictures display at 170×170 pixels on desktop, and 128×128 pixels on smartphones.

3. Add a call-to-action (CTA) button.

A great way for marketers to drive traffic from their Facebook Business Page back to their website is to add a call to action button. Since Facebook added the call to action feature to their Facebook Brand Pages back in 2014 button options have expanded greatly. Now you can add “watch now”, “sign up” or “book now” buttons with customized url destinations or content to drive more customers to your website, or to promote specific Facebook content. Take a look at the call to action button on my Facebook Brand Page;

Clicking the “watch video” button will take you to my landing page for a marketing video I’m currently promoting. Pretty slick eh?

To add a call-to-action to your Page, click the blue “Add a Button” box. Then you can pick the type of call to action button you want, and what content or url you want to promote. Later you can get analytics on how many clicks the button is generating simply by hovering over the button and selecting “View Insights.”
